The challenge is designed for every type of reader. Children can read independently, explore stories with parents, or listen along during library programs and youth center activities. Families can download the official reading log, track progress, and submit entries by September 4. Every participant receives a digital certificate, a personalized letter, and a commemorative America 250 bookmark. Top readers will be entered for a chance to visit Washington, D.C., and the White House on September 25.
Air Force libraries across the country are supporting the challenge with themed displays, recommended reading lists, story times, and summer engagement activities that help families stay connected and keep learning strong, even during moves, deployments, or new school transitions.
As the Second Lady shares, “Every book you open is an adventure.” This summer, Air Force children can turn those adventures into imagination, achievement, and celebration.
Learn more about the Summer Reading Challenge and encourage your children to join the adventure by visiting the official White House page.
